MADDY FITZGIBONS

Maddy Fitzgibbons

Who She is:

She is first and foremost a dancer, meaning that when she coaches, she emphasizes technique, movement, and mind-body connection.

Style:

Maddy has a particular love for kettlebell, barbell, and dumbbell weight training. She likes ballistic power exercises, including things like box jumps, kettlebell swings, and high intensity interval training. With her in-depth knowledge of the body and personal recovery from injury Maddy also emphasizes the importance of fundamentals, like mobility and balance.

Education & History

Maddy holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from Point Park University and a certification in personal training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. From the time she was 14, Maddy was dancing 6+ hours a day, 6 days a week, with little to no understanding of how the human body works. She was under the misimpression that more was always better. It wasn’t until a hip injury in her third year of college, caused by overtraining, was forced to learn the importance of recovery and cross-training.

During her recovery, she began taking her brother with special needs to the gym with her, which sparked an interest in personal training and weight training. Several years later, after recovering and returning to work as a dancer, Maddy traded in her dance shoes for lifting shoes and began to pursue a career as a fitness professional.

“I am not just interested in how you move but why.”
